The Early Years

Having children is no easy task. Personally, I am merely an auntie and I wondered at times how I would survive. During the first few weeks we  think: how cute, we want to hold them all the time, hearing them cry breaks our heart, we dote and dote and dote. Unfortunately those feelings won’t last long, they wear off quicker than you’d imagine. Instead our thoughts become: when will they become more independent, we long for the day when they will sleep through the night, we no longer want to hold them all the time – we need time to continue with our daily tasks, when will they use the potty – cleaning diapers is torture. You might think yourself to be bad parents for having these thoughts but kids are challenging.

During these times, time keeps on ticking. It never stops and those innocent babies grow; growing happens quickly; sooner than you think they are little characters of they own. It is only when this happens that you take a moment to reflect. It’s at this time you begin to wonder where did the time go? If only you could have those earlier days back. If you think twice about it however, it’s really not what you want at all.

January 2012 in Review

I can hardly believe January 2012 is already over. Wasn’t it just New Year’s eve? What did I accomplish over the past 30 days? I think the answer to that calls for an Art Journal. This should be fun. I can hardly wait to see my creation, and to share the end result on the blog.

Transformation Thursday: How to Be Charming

Theme: Baby’s Charm
Type: Digital Design
Size: 12×12 Template
Sketch Inspiration: Scrapbooksetc magazine. Sketch posted 1/12/2012
Freebie Download: Pre-made page
Materials: 2 photos
Paper: 5 – 1 pattern, 4 plain
Main Colors: Pink
Supporting Colors: Red
Embellishments: Book, stitching, flower, word-art, bling, frame, ribbon, journal pad, monogram tags, photo corner
Sources: KiddyKit Designs, Mangels Designs digital kits
Details: Nothing beats the charm of a toddler. They are fun little sponges that bring you laughter, love and fulfillment. Did you know there are statistics that show that children laugh 400 times a day, while adults laugh 4 – 11 times. How sad are we adults. There is also a Stanford University study that shows laughter lowers your blood pressure and heart rate, improves lung capacity, massages internal organs, increases memory and alertness, reduces pain, improves digestion, and lowers the stress hormones, cortisol and adrenalin. Let’s take a page from Hannah’s book on How to be Charming.
