Template Tuesday: Featured Template – Sail Away

Inspiration Source: KiddyKit Designs
Basic Materials: 12×12 design template, 4 Elements – 1 photo, 1 paper: 1 plain, 2 potential embellishments
Supporting Materials: Color swatch
Tools: Adobe Photoshop
Details: What’s your preference? Trick or Treat? A trick is usually incurred – in the form of mischief – if a treat isn’t given. Historically Scottish children would work for their treats – by performing a trick of some sort. This process was know as guishing.
Halloween! What a festive time of year. The only time when being yourself is frowned upon.

Upcoming: Check back 12/22/2011 for the final design

Suggestions: Living in New York City can be very expensive. When working with a limited budget take time to relax and enjoy the surroundings. It costs nothing – maybe just a few tips for your subjects – and you can capture the heart of the city using your point and shoot camera. Just charge the battery, grab the camera, and hit the streets for a day of adventure. Try it in your city. You’ll be in awe at the treasures you’ll uncover.
Upcoming: Check back 12/15/2011 for the final design

Design Thursday – Featured Design: Art of Expression

These girls know how to be beautiful and fierce. In the streets of New York you can see it all, live it all, do it all. They are determined to be a part of the action. This design is one of my favorites to date. I used the Treble Cleft because they love to sing, the stars because they are personal super stars, the vibrant colors because they live out loud and the circles because they always stand united as sisters.

To recreate: Layer two papers for the background, add rounded tag behind rounded pattern paper, apply to the background, layer two papers to create a photo mat, add plain paper square behind the photo mat, add photo, apply on top of the rounded pattern paper, layer circle die cuts, add musical notes, stars, brads and circle die cuts, add smaller stars and additional musical notes around the photo, add journaling tag, journaling, and title.

Notes: Today was not a fun day for my nephew Xavier. He wanted to be a brat and say and do whatever his little mind thought was right. Normally he would get to have his way, but today was not one of those days, so he complained about it to whomever would listen. Auntie Sherry was the mean adult and so not his friend.

Upcoming: Check back 5/26/2011 for the final design
Notes: I love you Xavier. On this day you were very upset your Auntie Sherry. I’m happy we quickly kissed and made up. I couldn’t stand having you – my adorable nephew – mad at me for long.
