Manic Monday – Just Another Manic Monday

Today is the second day of the year and a very sad day it is. It is the last day of my vacation. Tomorrow I must return to work. I do miss my team, and some of my work colleagues, but I don’t miss the office for a moment.
This year, I’m determined to find a way to work it all out – making the income, loving the work, and building necessary relationships.
To make it through the day I listen to my inner voice. It tells me: “I can do this, think positive, relax, ignore the fact that I have no other option than to return to work, make the most of the day.” My inner voice is not helpful today. Instead I turn to another form of relaxation: my designs.
I reach for a coloring page and find joy in a childhood pastime. It is the best form of relaxation. I pass the time coloring and watching Once Upon a Time.
Hours later and I’ve made it through another Manic Monday. Tomorrow new challenges await.

Details: Kids will never know the sacrifices that are made by parents. Being an auntie I also don’t realize the sacrifice but I am like a parent in that I would do anything for the children in my life.

The birth of my nephew was a scary time, the family was on edge thinking we could lose my sister. This was Try’s first kid and she was all alone, it hurts me to think of how scared she was without her family to help her through. My mom got a parents worst call informing her my sister was on the edge of life; she needed to fly to Washington immediately; we were all shell shocked. But nothing beats the power of prayer, hope and faith.
I look at my nephew, my sister and her husband. I silently say thank you father for your blessings and mercy. You are an awesome sister and mother. Your sacrifice tells the world you have the heart of a angel.

Details: The birth of my nephew was a scary time for my family. We feared losing my sister who had a challenging delivery. No parents wants to get the call – “come immediately your daughter is dying.” No family wants to live in antipication of hearing today was a day of lost. God’s blessings saved the day. Two siblings later my sister is the healthy happy woman she was destined to be. I love you sis.
Upcoming: Check back 8/11/2011 for the final design

Design Thursday – Featured Design: Express Yourself

I remember when my sister came home from the hospital as a newborn. We were all so excited for yet another for yet another baby – don’t know why because I think 8 kids were already enough, but we were. I don’t remember everything about the day but I recall running out to meet my parents before they even made it to the front door. I hate to admit it but she was an adorable baby. We doted on her for months on end.

I remember my mom speaking to someone one day and she was so proud of my baby sister. She said to her friend: “I don’t know what she’s going to be in life but I know she will be something great”. Mom was positive my sister was destined for the big time. Luckily, for mom’s sake, she turned out to be a smart kid, and my baby sister is determined to be greater than life. She love the spotlight. Singing, dancing, photography, modeling, fashion, you name it, she wants it. One day we’ll see her name on a billboard somewhere I’m sure.

More importantly than all that, she knows how to have fun. Whether it’s chilling with family or hanging with her girls there’s always a camera handy, and she’s always ready for the action. This photo to me reflects her fun and serious side. I know her goal of fame and fortune is waiting right around the corner and when it comes she’ll be ready. If nothing else she certainly knows how to Express Yourself.

Notes: Today was not a fun day for my nephew Xavier. He wanted to be a brat and say and do whatever his little mind thought was right. Normally he would get to have his way, but today was not one of those days, so he complained about it to whomever would listen. Auntie Sherry was the mean adult and so not his friend.
